BECAUSE HEALTHCARE IS A HUMAN RIGHT
On the island of Lagonav where we work, there is only one 50-bed hospital staffed with three doctors, serving a population of over 100,000.
Life expectancy is 57 years, and the child mortality rate is the highest in the western hemisphere. Our healthcare program includes:
Operating a rural walk-in clinic, staffed by locally educated and trained Haitians
Operating an infirmary at our twin parish school
Sponsoring a health education Mothers Club, focusing on pregnancy and childbirth
Conducting periodic medical and dental missions
Working in close cooperation with the Haitian Ministry of Health to support their work on the island.
