On the island of Lagonav where we work, there is only one 50-bed hospital staffed with three doctors, serving a population of over 100,000.

 

Life expectancy is 57 years, and the child mortality rate is the highest in the western hemisphere. Our healthcare program includes:

 

  • Operating a rural walk-in clinic, staffed by locally educated and trained Haitians

  • Operating an infirmary at our twin parish school

  • Sponsoring a health education Mothers Club, focusing on pregnancy and childbirth

  • Conducting periodic medical and dental missions

  • Working in close cooperation with the Haitian Ministry of Health to support their work on the island.
